How to Order Wedding Invitation Samples (and Compare Them)
You can order a sample of most of our designs online, before you buy a full set. Add one of each design you want to compare to your basket and check out; samples are dispatched within 1–2 business days by DHL Express and arrive in 1–2 days in the UK, 2–4 days in the EU and USA. Each sample costs the same as one piece of that design and is printed with sample wording. Most couples order two or three samples in different materials and decide side by side.
How Ordering a Sample Works
- Choose your designs in our wedding invitation samples — one of each design
- Check out — shipping is calculated at checkout, and UK, EU and US orders arrive with no customs charges
- We dispatch within 1–2 business days and send you the DHL tracking number
- Hold the samples, compare them, then place your full order and send us your wording
How Many Samples Should You Order?
Two or three is the right number for most couples: one sample for each material you are still considering. A velvet folio, a clear acrylic card and a gold foil card on cotton board feel completely different in the hand, and seeing them together makes the choice quick.
If you already know the material, compare two designs in it — for example two velvet folios with different covers. Samples are sent in the shade shown on the page; if you are deciding between two velvet colours, get in touch and we will advise.
What a Sample Costs
A sample costs the same as one piece of that design in a full order, plus DHL Express shipping. Our starting prices per sample:
- Gold foil invitation on 600gsm cotton card — from £5.49
- Clear acrylic invitation — from £5.75
- Velvet folio invitation — from £21.25
- Velvet boxed invitation — from £31.75
What to Compare When Your Samples Arrive
Lay the samples side by side in daylight, then look at them again in the evening — velvet and foil change with the light.
Weight and thickness. Heavy cotton card, 2mm acrylic and a velvet hardcover each give a different first impression when a guest opens the envelope.
Foil. Check the shine and the colour of the gold against your wedding palette.
Colours together. Hold the invitation next to the envelope, ribbon and wax seal — the suite is seen as a whole.
Readability. Read the wording at arm's length; script fonts look different in print than on screen.
The opening moment. Open a folio or a box the way your guests will.
Your Sample and Your Final Suite
Samples are not personalised: they are printed with sample wording, so you judge the materials, foil and finish. Your own wording comes on a digital proof within 2–3 business days of your full order, with up to three rounds of revisions. Samples are representative for three months from dispatch — if you order later, contact us to confirm the materials are still available. See how samples work.
